Here are the Top 5 Things I’m loving this month (warning…most of it is Christmas-related…as it should be):
1. Searching for Sunday: Loving, Leaving and Finding the Church, By Rachel Held Evans
I’ve been meaning to read this book for a LONG time and finally got around to it through my November Book Club pick. I love the way she ties her journey with the Church to the Bible and the history and traditions of the Church. Such a beautiful reminder and such an honest look at the complexity of God’s Church full of broken but beloved people.
2. Christmas Decorating!
This takes many forms.
#1- Christmas Nails
#2: Desk & Phone
#3: House- Inside & Out
It’s our first Christmas in our first house, so you know we’re going all out for Christmas!
3. Do Less, Make it Mean More Advent Study & Calendar
I love doing an Advent study each year to focus my gaze on what Christmas is really about in the chaos of all the fun festivities. This year I’m trying All Good Things Collective’s Study. I love that the daily devotionals are short and sweet (the theme is “Do Less, Make it Mean More” – so perfect for the holidays!) and it came with an adorable Advent calendar with an activity for each day!
4. Trans Siberian Orchestra ‘The Ghosts of Christmas Eve’ Concert
YOU GUYS. Aaron and I are going to Trans Siberian Orchestra’s Christmas Concert this year!!! I’ve been wanting to go for YEARS and it’s finally happening. Christmas Eve/Sarajevo is my FAVORITE Christmas song and the show looks intense (just watch the video). I can’t even.
5. Hosting Christmas!
This year I’ll be hosting my side of the family’s Christmas get-together on New Year’s Day.
Here’s the menu I’m thinking about:
BBQ Ribs
Cheesy Potatoes
Buttery Garlic Green Beans
Famous Dave’s Cornbread Muffins
Peppermint Cheesecake
What are you looking forward to this month?
