Reading: Psalm 50
God is self-sufficient. This means God is a self-contained source of perpetual and perfect sustenance. He is whole- wholly loving and loved within the trinity. This means he doesn’t need us or anything from us. This is a good thing because we would let him down and him not needing us means he can’t be harmed by us. He also can’t be controlled or coerced by us or anything else.
Reflection Questions
- Do you believe this to be true?
- When have you been awed by sufficiency? How can you use this experience to increase your awe of God?
- How have you seen God’s self-sufficiency in your life?
