One of my goals for 2017 is to have a weekly date night. Here are some of the things Aaron and I did together in January.
1. Take Cross Country Skiing Lessons {1.4.17}.
REI offers a bunch of sports classes and some of them are free! We went to a cross country skiing informational session- I love cross country skiing, but the last time I went only one side of me got sore, so I figured I was probably doing it wrong. So we signed up for a lesson! Unfortunately, it only covered equipment, safety and apparel. The technique part of the lesson costs money- wha wha. We still had fun and it was an opportunity to go to Chick-fil-a since it’s near REI :).
Here’s a link to REI’s events page.
2. Get Milkshakes & Fries at Hi Lo Diner {1.7.17}
And maybe try a Hi-Top (my favorite is the Gary Cooper!).
3. Go to Revival for some Fried Chicken {1.13.17}
Or try the burger- I’ve had a few people say it’s the best they’ve had in the cities. However, whenever I go I can’t resist the fried chicken. They now have an app that notifies you when your table is ready so we were able to go home and watch TV until our table was ready since we live so close. Win-Win.
4. Make Cocktails & Do Your Own Thing {1.14.17}
Date nights don’t always have to be a night out. Winter is the best time to hibernate. Aaron and I have really enjoyed staying in, making cocktails and either watching TV together (I recommend The Man in the High Castle) or doing our own thing. Aaron’s been working on a puzzle and I’ve been working on a photo book on Shutterfly.
Here’s a Moscow Mule recipe we’ve been drinking.
5. Go to a Wine Bar {1.19.17}
We tried the Riverview Wine Bar for the first time and loved it! The atmosphere was so cozy and the food was really good. I want to go back and try some more things from the menu. I tried the Specific Northwest flight and Aaron tried the Espana flight. We were going to go to a movie across the street, but decided to just take our time.
6. Listen to Blues at Famous Dave’s in Uptown {1.22.17}
We used to go to Famous Dave’s in Uptown all the time to listen to Moses play blues. We fell out of the practice, but last Sunday we went with our friends again! It’s such a fun atmosphere, no cover, great beers and bbq and sometimes there’s swing dancers.
